Procedure for International Student Arrival


To ensure a smooth arrival, students are required to submit the Airport Pickup form at least ten (10) days before arrival to the Department of International Student Services (DISS) at nganmw@utar.edu.my for Kampar Campus and fooww@utar.edu.my for Sungai Long Campus.

The form MUST include the following details:
  • flight number
  • date
  • expected time of arrival
  • SEV (single entry visa) obtained from Malaysia Embassies or High Commissions.
Airport pick up and meet up services are available on working days, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm. Late night, weekends and Malaysia Public Holidays arrival are not encouraged. Should there be an emergency, DISS will arrange for a special airport pick up and meet up.

What to do when you arrive at the Malaysia Airport?
Proceed to the airport’s Immigration Counters of KLIA or KLIA 2 with the following documents (listed below) for self-immigration clearance procedures:
  • Original Passport
  • A copy of the VAL (Visa Approval Letter)
  • A copy of the university offer letter
  • SEV (single entry visa)

 Important note
: Students are ALLOWED to stamp their passport and exit the airport on their own after the self-immigration clearance to meet up with the university representative for pick up services.

a) Upon student’s arrival at the Malaysia Airports, students are only given 6 hours to obtain immigration clearance. In the case when the students arrive early in the morning, UTAR Representative will be there at around 6.00am to 7.00am to assist in the immigration clearance. Once students have obtained for the immigration clearance, students are to wait at the Arrival Hall for pick up.
