Renewal of Student Pass Endorsement


All full time international students need to renew their student pass two (2) months before its expiry date. The renewal process is within the purview of Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) and the Immigration Department of Malaysia, and to be accompanied by the following requirements:

1. Latest academic results for the current trimester with a CGPA of 2.00 and above.
2. Attendance report for the current trimester with a compulsory 80% attendance.
3. Payment for student pass renewal as required by EMGS and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
4. Any additional document(s) required by the EMGS and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

It is a compulsory to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and 80% attendance in all scheduled classes and achieve satisfactory academic performance at UTAR. The full time international students will face the following consequences if their:

a) CGPA is less than 2.00
i) Warning letter from DISS
ii) Probation letter from DEAS*
iii) Meeting with Academic Advisor
iv) Counselling session with DSA** counsellor

b) Attendance is less than 80%
i) Warning letter from DISS
ii) Meeting with Academic Advisor

* DEAS – Division of Examinations, Awards and Scholarships
** DSA – Department of Student Affairs

The full time international students may have their student pass revoked or be denied renewal after expiry, if they failed to maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and 80% attendance in all scheduled classes and did not achieve satisfactory academic performance.

In the case of student pass renewal and its subsequent appeal being rejected by EMGS and the Immigration Department of Malaysia, the full time international student will have to provide DISS the following:

1. Passport and return flight ticket to home country 2 weeks before the expiry of current student pass.
2. Withdrawal form to faculty, refund of caution money and bond deposit forms.
3. Any additional document(s) required by the EMGS and the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
